Este hotel le da una nueva imagen a la hospitalidad. Apasionados por la cultura local – arte, diseño y comida se combinan en un paquete deslumbrante con un servicio impecable y un toque internacional reflejado en todos los detalles. En el Hotel ICON todo se trata de individualidad y una celebración de lo mejor de Hong Kong.

Fundado y perteneciente a la Universidad Politécnica de Hong Kong (PolyU), el Colegio de Hotelería y Turismo (SHTM) y el Hotel ICON, representa también el centro de excelencia a nivel global en investigación y educación en hospitalidad, albergando además un ambiente de enseñanza que incluye instalaciones para conferencias, restaurantes-escuela, clases, biblioteca y laboratorios. Hotel ICON cree en el futuro de la hospitalidad asiática y provee un ambiente dinámico que inspira a las nuevas generaciones de hoteleros apasionados que un día serán líderes en la industria del turismo.

El nombre ICON se le da debido de la calidad del diseño del hotel, siendo representado por varios íconos del mundo del diseño interior en China.El edificio fue diseñado por el reconocido arquitecto Rocco Yim, quien también diseñó el Museo de Guangzou, ícono la arquitectura en Hong Kong. Los interiores han sido diseñados con una combinación de varios diseñadores locales tan reconocidos como Terence Conran de Conran & Partners ganadores de premios tan prestigiosos como el Diseño de Hotel del Año de los Premios Europeos en Diseño de Hoteles en el 2009, diseñando el restaurante Above & Beyond, un restaurante situado en el piso 28 de ICON con espléndidas vistas panorámicas sobre la ciudad; Dr Patrick Blanc encargado del muro verde - actualmente uno de los más grandes en Asia; mientras que los muebles fueron exclusivamente diseñados por William Lim, especializado en Arquitectura de Interiores para el sector de la Hospitalidad, junto con la diseñadora de moda Vivienne Tam, autora del libro China Chic, y Barney Cheng quien diseñó el vestuario para el ICON; todo esto bajo la curaduría del experto Freeman Lau.

El resultado es un majestuoso y elegante hotel que no tiene nada que envidiar a nadie, lleno de esculturas, arte y diseño que muestran una vez más que un proyecto bien pensado siempre puede ser un éxito. Es lo que hace de este hotel algo único en el mundo: la representación de diferentes culturas fundidos para reflejar la verdadera esencia de Hong Kong.

Founded and owned by Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) and Hotel ICON complex represents the global centre of excellence in hospitality and tourism education research, hosting a state-of-the-art learning environment that includes conference facilities, teaching restaurants, classrooms, a library and several technology labs. Hotel ICON believes in the future of Asian hospitality and provides a dynamic environment to inspiring a new generation of passionate pioneering hoteliers and students who will one day take their positions as leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry.

The name ICON is given due to the quality in the design of the hotel, being represented by various icons in Chinese interior design and architecture. The building was designed by the prestigious architect Rocco Yim, whom also designed the Guangzou Museum, an icon in itself Hong Hong. The interiors were put in charge of a select combination of recognized local designers such as Terence Conran from Conran & Partners who has been presented with the prestigious Hotel Design of the Year award at the European Hotel Design awards 2009. At ICON he was in charge of the Above & Beyond restaurant on the 28th floor with amazing panoramic views over the city; Dr Patrick Blanc was in charge of designing the green wall – currently one of the biggest in Asia; while the furniture and decoration was exclusively designed by William Lim, specialized in Interior Architecture for the Hospitality, Corporate, Retail and Residential design sectors, together with Vivienne Tam, author of the book China Chic about Chinese fashion and design, and Barney Cheng whom created the distinct ICON uniforms.

The result is a majestic and elegant hotel that has nothing to envy, full of sculptures, art and design proving that a well thought out project can be a total success. This is what makes this hotel unique - the representation of different cultures. Hotel ICON reflects the true essence of Hong Kong.
